Zoos are a huge family favorite, with all members of an outing able to find animals that they love when exploring wildlife parks. Trips to Europe allow visitors to indulge in a large variety of different zoos from various nations, each with their own unique attractions. And if you’re traveling to this continent, there are ten zoos, which rise above the rest as the ultimate attraction.
1. Berlin Zoological Garden, Germany

Germany’s oldest zoo was also home to the world famous Polar Bear, Knut. Having died in 2010, the zoo remains a poignant place for many to visit, and in addition to 15,000 animals to see; there is a lot to explore at Berlin’s zoo.
2. Zoo De La Palmyre, France

Colchester Zoo, located in Britain’s oldest town, is a stunning zoo spread across 60 acres. You can see elephants, giraffe, gorillas and 270 other species of animal at this popular park.
4. Barcelona Zoo, Spain

Spain’s largest zoo, this zoo is home to the planet’s only albino gorilla. Snowflake is famous having appeared on the album cover of ‘Rooty’ by Basement Jazz. Meanwhile, with over 4,000 animals including reptiles, birds and dolphins, Barcelona Zoo is a great family attraction.
5. Marineland, Spain

If you’re travelling to Spain, then Palafolls on the Costa Brava is home to Marineland, one of the best marine zoos in Europe. Shows provide the ability to see sea lions, dolphins and even parrots performing, whilst a small waterpark also gives an added attraction for children.
6. Vienna Butterfly House, Austria

Up close and personal encounters with magnificent butterflies can be enjoyed in Vienna’s Butterfly House. Over 100 species are here to admire both in their adult and caterpillar form, and kids will loving nothing more than when a butterfly lands on their head.
7. Zoo Schonbrunn, Austria

Also located in Vienna is the world’s oldest zoo, Zoo Schonbrunn. Founded in 1752 the zoo has beautiful modern and baroque enclosures, and houses a huge range of animals including elephants and pandas. In addition, night tours are available, offering an intrigued way to explore the zoo.
8. Zoo and Safari Park, Czech Republic

If you want an African adventure in Europe, then heading to the Zoo and Safari Park in Dvur Kralove is ideal. With transport by foot, car, or train you can see The Tropical Swamp, The African Savannah, The Lion House or The Pygmy Hippo House.
9. Prague Zoo, Czech Republic

The 7th best zoo in the world, Prague Zoo is home to African gorillas, polar bears, tigers, giraffe and many more. The zoo has an extensive history in breeding programmes and you can expect to see many offspring as you explore.
10. Zoo Bojnice, Slovakia

Around 1,800 animals live in this top Slovakian zoo, including monkeys, brown bears, leopards and royal condors. In addition, a fantastic children’s look out tower is available, offering kids the chance to slide down into enclosures with domestic animals.
